Minimalism

We think we know what it is, but we might be off.
People think of Marie Kondo and white-on-white decor, but maybe there is something about the Minimalist Art Movement that we've forgotten, or never knew to begin with.
So I've watched a series of lectures and videos from art professors and educators that go back to the origins of the 1950s and 1960s movement.
It was interesting, honestly.
It gave me some appreciation for things I'd only ever laughed at in museums and galleries.
As ever, this art movement was a political response to the conditions in the world - specifically consumerism.
So this week I will take my lead from someone like Carl Andre and just shoot a thing without context, a thing without story, a thing that has line, shape, form, and texture without the need for story.
And we'll see how it stacks up against how others interpret the theme.
